The Ghost by Robert Harris

First and foremost, it’s not a horror / thriller book. The book is about a writer autobiography for celebrities in other words a ghost writer. His agent gets him a client who is an Ex Prime Minister and whose existing ghost writer end up floating in a river under mysterious circumstances.

From day one onwards, the ghost finds that his and his clients life is very similar and he starts connecting and identifying his stories more like his, then through some research done by his predecessor he finds out it has all been lies.

This starts his journey to find the truth which could result in fatality.

Robert Harris with this novel delivers an amazing story line with an unexpected and thrilling climax.

What worked for me?

  • The story is well-built up and mystery unfolds very well with small details on almost every page.
  • The characters and locations are identifiable
  • The climax

What didn’t work for me?

  • I think there was nothing that didn’t work for me J

What could have made the book better?

  • In the middle there are places where things have slowed down a bit which could have been avoided.
  • Adding a map of the secluded island in Boston could have been better to relate the geography

Overall rating – 4.5/5
